The Living
Philosophy course
examines the underlying ideas of eastern and western philosophy and
how these can guide practical action. It is a course in
applied philosophy that examines the unified nature of all
experiences.

This 10-week evening course is
a practical course in how to live philosophy, rather than an
evaluation of the historical ideas of western and eastern
philosophers. While ideas of great thinkers and philosophers such
as Plato, Socrates, Kant, Shankara, Buddha, Lao Tsu, Gurdjieff, and
others are covered, their ideas are discussed and related to the
common challenges facing us in everyday life.

“A human being is part of the
whole, called by us “Universe”, a part limited in time and
space.
He
experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something
separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his
consciousness…
Our task
must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle
of compassion to embrace all living creatures
and the
whole of nature in its beauty”.
